As suddenly, from nowhere, there was a charming young girl. It has approached to it and has asked: <About what, the old man, you so bitterly cry?> do not cry, my ancestors have left to me gift to recover all died, bring to me only a few waters>. The pleased old man has rushed was behind water. But has turned back. About a miracle! - the girl has disappeared. And all its flowers have revived and have become even in hundred times more perfectly: the simple have turned in terry, one-colors - in motley. On one bush there were flowers of every possible grades, and paints amazed them with what not comparable brightness. The hearing about such miracle was not slow to extend on all country, and to the old man the people from everywhere began to be flown down to admire its wonderfully revived colors: But beaten by old man Chang-hey, angry such good luck, could not forgive the insult put to him and has decided to revenge by all means. And here the strong wind has suddenly risen. Soon all have gathered, there was one only no rose - that which rightfully should be selected by the assistant of the goddess of Flora. All were silent and patiently waited, only silly peony assured of the advantages, dreamt already that for lack of a rose it, undoubtedly, will be selected in governors.
At last there was with what not a comparable beauty-rose, and all flowers have involuntarily become silent, amazed with its greatness and beauty. But the peony looked at it defiantly. Its red petals were puffed up, and, being inflated from all urine, he tried to outdo its in size.
 Such impudence has amazed all. All flowers exchanged glances with astonishment among themselves, and the Flora looked at it with a caustic smile. But, not turning on anybody of attention, having inflamed as fire, the peony is self-satisfied continued to look at a rose with contempt, on other flowers - with pride, and on Flora - with expression of firm confidence of the victory:
At last there has come the choice moment. All flowers as one, have given a vote for a rose, and there was only shamed peony which shouted: <it do not agree, it do not agree!>
Then the Flora, having removed from a head the regal wreath, has solemnly assigned it to a head of a rose and then, with a contemptuous smile to a peony, has told: <the Proud, silly flower! Remain in punishment for the complacency and emptiness for ever such thick, On exaggerated, as today. And let any butterfly will not present you never the kiss, any bee does not take in your nimbus to honey and any girl will not pin never your flower to the breast!>
And both the goddess has told, and happens: the peony remained is thick and clumsy and has become an emptiness and conceit emblem.
